A Level Globe Theatre Trip

A Level Globe Theatre Trip

25 A Level English students travelled to Shakespeare's Globe to see Measure for Measure on Tuesday.

The group stood in the "groundlings" area for the 3-hour performance, which tested their physical endurance. Despite their aching legs and an autumnal chill in the air, the group loved the play and the authentic atmosphere of the playhouse. Here are some of their reviews:

"The play was excellent. Although the weather was gloomy, the play's comedic nature certainly made up for it".

"The trip to the Globe was fun and enthralling. I found the experience worthwhile and would love similar trips".

"It was enlightening to see professional actors recreating a Shakespearean play. I'd never seen anything like it before. It was very funny, and although I couldn't understand some of the language, the actors' actions helped a lot".

"The trip to the Globe was very enjoyable. Because we stood, we had a chance to feel really involved in the performance. It was comical but also became quite intense at times, which I loved. I would definitely go back there".

The Year 12 students will be reading Measure for Measure in the spring term, so seeing the Globe's terrific production ahead of time was excellent preparation for their studies.
