40 students in Years 7 -9 travelled to France for a 4-day trip to test their newly learnt French speaking skills on the locals.
Friday 28 March 2014
The students met Miss Summers and Mr Cooper at school before beginning their journey to France. They were travelling to Château de Grande Romaine via ferry which was very exciting for the few students who have not travelled abroad before.
After the long journey, the students arrived at the Château where they were staying. They were greeted by very friendly PGL staff who hosted games and activities before dinner was served. Soon after, the students crashed out in their beds to prepare for a jam-packed day sightseeing round Paris!
Saturday 29 March 2014
An early start saw students breakfasting on croissants and pain au chocolats before preparing their own lunch for the day. They then boarded the coach heading to Paris!
The students began their day with La Tour Eiffel - a few even braved the climb to the top! Next they mounted the hundreds of steps that lead to the famous Sacre Coeur where they saw a famous footballer perform some fantastic football tricks!
After a busy morning the students settled down to lunch in the glorious sunshine whilst cruising down La Seine. Then it was time for some shopping and a real chance to test their French speaking skills on the locals!
Back at the Château dinner was served; some students tried escargots (snails!) for the first time. There was a mixed reaction with some exclaiming it was délicieux but dégoutant for others.
Afterwards students got to toast marshmallows on the camp fire and sing some traditional French songs before heading to bed.
Sunday 30 March 2014
This was the day the students had all been waiting for! The trip to Disneyland Paris!
Students were let loose to go on rides and visit their favourite Disney characters as well as shopping for souvenirs for family and friends.
After the busy day, the students were treated to a disco to celebrate their last evening in France.
Monday 30 March 2014
After a quick breakfast, the students hopped on the coach heading for home. However, there was time for one last stop at a French supermarché for last minute shopping before boarding the ferry at Calais.
All the students arrived safely back home after having an éxcellent time gaining some very fond memories.
Also, a big thank you to Miss Summers and Mr Cooper otherwise this trip would not have been able to go ahead.
Au revoir Paris
! A la prochaine !
