Hillingdon Book of the Year

Hillingdon Book of the Year

On Friday 13 June, six Y7/8 students went to the Winston Churchill Hall in Ruislip to present their favourite book in front of eleven other schools.

Tariq, Chanel, Lauren, Rebecca, Abdullahi and Yusuf all read six books which were in the running to be Hillingdon's Book of the Year, and then chose their favourite which turned out to be Rob Lloyd Jones' "Wild Boy".

Wild Boy tells the story of a boy who is covered in hair and has extraordinary powers of observation and detection. He was raised as a monster in a workhouse in the 1800’s but then sold to a freakshow where he was accused of murder forcing him to go on the run! This is a fantastic book and will keep you reading to the unusual twist at the end.

Although not gaining a place in the top three, all the students performed excellently and received a personal congratulations from the Lady Mayor and Mayoress!
