First ever student with straight A* grades
A-A* Results beats last year’s record
Over a third of the results were A-A*
Students from Barnhill Community High in Hayes are to be congratulated for producing a brilliant set of A-Level Exam results. A fantastic 33% of all grades were awarded A* and A, beating last year’s record and once again surpassing the National Average of 26%. The overall passrate was close to 99%. Most students have already confirmed places at top universities across the country including Imperial College, Birmingham, Kings College London,LSE, Southampton, and Exeter.
Mazin Seid-Ahmed is celebrating a clean sweep of three A* grades (Barnhill’s first student to do so). He will go on to study Aeronautical Engineering at Imperial College. The modest student said “These are even better than I thought”, whilst his classmates had more praise: “Mazin was always going to get straight As as he worked so hard.”
Thursday morning saw nervous students arriving early at the school to collect their results and although there were many tears, they were mostly of joy and relief! The Sports Hall was full of excited chatter as students compared results as the envelopes were ripped open! Barnhill staff were on hand to help with advice about what to do next with their careers and provided one-on-one interviews.
Students celebrating straight A-grades include Arjun Balu and Amrita Rai. Amrita will study Dentistry at Kings College London while Arjun has accepted a place at Birmingham to study Mathematics. Najma Dahir is celebrating two A*s with a place to study Radiology at City University whilst Tamim Ahmad moves onto LSE to Study Government and Economics.
Other students with at least two As are Megan Charles (Psychology at Southampton), Zain Rahman (Biomedicine at Bath), Janshiga Sangarathas (Medicine at St Georges, London), Rhys Williams (Economics at UCL) and former head student Liibaan Mohammed (Law at Exeter).
Head Teacher, Robert Lobatto is really pleased that students once again exceeded expectations and is delighted that the A-A* results are even better than the previous record showing in 2013. “I am delighted that the grades show that students from Barnhill achieve at the very highest level and are getting into the top Universities in the country. They are due reward for all the hard work over the last two years. I would like to congratulate all our students and their families on these excellent results”.
