Year 12 Physics students took part in a physics master class at the RHUL Physics Department where they had great opportunity and insight into pursuing further research in Particle Physics.
The day consisted of exciting programmes and short talks by leading research scientists and lecturers at the RHUL, as well as lots of advanced practical demonstrations with state of the art resources and a tour of the Physics Department.
It was an informative day out, which gave the A-Level Physicists an insight into the world of particle physics. They were introduced to ‘the structure of matter’ as well as the discovery of the ‘HIGGS BOSON’ with detailed explanation on how particles behave. They had the opportunity to participate in a series of activities using specialist programs and software packages to create different sorts of particle interactions just as they would happen in reality in the Large Hadron Collider in CERN, Switzerland.
It was really an interesting and knowledge filled experience for the students as they gain detailed understanding of how the universe works.
