Our Year 7 & 8 boys Rugby team embarked on a tournament hosted by Merchant Taylors School in Northwood. Playing under almost perfect weather conditions, the boys went head to head in the first round against three other schools.
The first game was as riveting as it was aggressive. Despite going a score behind, the boys held their nerve, with successful tries from Josh Assi-Kacou and Nadeem Jalrezi, enabling the game to culminate in a draw.
The second game started with ferocious pace and power, with the first try being set up through a highly skilled offload from Brendan Gibbons, setting up a try for winger Josh Ass-Kacou to score the first try.
The game developed in speed and pace, with both teams making some very tough tackles. However, Barnhill maintained a strong sense of discipline to win two tries to nil. The thought of victory in the last game, ignited Barnhill’s hopes of progressing to the latter stages of the tournament. With superb tackling from Anthony Trevellion-Perrior and a late try, the boys maintained their winning form.
In the final game, Barnhill competed in a highly physical battle against Hayden School. Despite some very skilled forward play from Emmanuel Okiji and immense courage from all of the boys, they were sadly unable to add another victory to their day, losing by just one try.
However, the boys had a great day and illustrated their ambition to win – well done boys!
