What are you doing now: I am still studying medicine, hopefully graduating in the next year as a doctor. This year I have been studying medical specialities such as obstetrics and gynaecology, dermatology and paediatrics. I am looking forward to go on an eight-week medical elective placement to South East Asia in the summer. In the future, I am hoping to become a GP.
Words of advice for fellow pupils at Barnhill: Getting into university is extremely competitive and the only way to give yourself the edge is to excel both academically and non-academically. Obviously work hard for your GCSEs and A levels as these really do play a role in how universities select their applicants. But don’t forget that universities want students who will also play in their sports teams, do local charity and community work and lead their clubs and societies. If you try your best to involve and engage with the students at Barnhill to demonstrate these skills, your life will be much easier when it comes to writing your personal statement!
