Psychology develops oral, visual and written communication, problem solving, numeracy and statistical skills, critical and creative thinking, decision making, organisational skills, team-working, and IT skills.


Throughout the course we study the following key questions:

1. How do we see our world?

2. Is dreaming meaningful?

3. Do TV and video games affect young people’s behaviour?

4. Why do we have phobias?

5. Are criminals born or made?


Students study the following approaches:-

The Social Approach - How behaviour is influenced by others

The Cognitive Approach - The mental processes involved in memory

The Psychodynamic Approach - The unconscious, dreaming and personality

The Biological Approach - Physiological explanations of behaviour

The Learning Approach - How we ‘learn’ to behave
